"Hot Mikado" Programme with Photos featuring Bill "Bojangles" Robinson

This auction is for two (2) original 8 x 10 glossy photos with original programme featuring Bill "Bojangles" Robinson along with Freddie Robinson, Floyd Hull, Maurice Cooper, Alice Harris, and the "3 Little Maids" in the 1939 stage production of Michael Todds' "Hot Mikado".  Mike Todd's version of "The Hot Mikado" had Bill Robinson in the title role. Robinson strutted in a gold suit, gold shoes, with a gold derby and gold cane. Todd's chorus girls tapped away bedecked nattily in slacks on a stage filled with stylized, modern decor.
Photos are in very good condition with penciled inscription on the back of each photo listing the names of persons featured and indicates
"coming to Fords [theatre]"
Dec. 4th.; Unknown who made inscriptions; Photos are stamped with original blue "Vandamm Studio" stamp; very light bumping to corners. Otherwise these photos have great crisp resolution.
The 14 page 1939 programme publlished by Strand Press, N.Y. city is in good condition with minor wear to oversize pictorial stapled wraps and measures approx. 9" x 12" and includes full production credits, cast list, musical numbers, scenes, and wide range of b/w photos of entire ensemble and individual cast members; creasing to bottom corners; small chip to top spine area; light creasing to center as if folded; text is clean. The first page, written by Charles Washburn is entitled "The Great Bojangles" and tells the story of Bill Robinson's career and life and his historic appearance at age 61 at the New York World's Fair. Bill "Bojangles" Robinson is depicted on the front cover in caricature in the role of the Mikado.
