Wings of Texaco 1929 Lockheed Air Express 1st in the Series Red Plane Coin Bank Die Cast MetalBrand new in original box and never displayed - Kept in box. This 1929 Lockheed Air Express is a replica aircraft that flew from New York to Los Angeles (back then) at record setting 36 hours, 48 minutes and 48 seconds by pilot Capt. Frank M. Hawks. It was purchased from Lockheed Aircraft in Burbank, CA in Jan 1929 for ,040. It flew a combined 90,000 miles before being lost in an accident in Palm Beach, FL a year later in Jan 1930.
Made in die cast material and the 1st in a Series. Box may show some wear and tear due to age and storage. The inside 2 part plastic covering is slightly mangled and may have some dust/dirt particles in areas. Comes with pamphlet. Overall, plane is in excellent brand new condition and a great vintage collectible coin bank.
