  • Condition: Nice rarely found Helb level in unrestored condition. The large glass over the grade indicator is good, the smaller glass has an edge missing. There are 4 screws missing on the bottom brass plate the runs the entire 24" in length. The needle moves on the large indicator. The North/South plate on top is faded and has no needle. One bubble is missing the main top level bubble works find. Nice solid tool for your collection.

    Offered is a
    rarely found Edward Helb Railroad Level & Grade Finder tool. Has the patent date July 12, 1904 on the large finder indicator gauge. Manufactured by Edward Helb. Measures 24" long by 3 1/2" high and 1 5/8" wide. Weighs 4 pounds 8 oz. This tool needs some minor attention but is otherwise very solid with hardwood and brass. There is also a sight window on the one end (see last photo). The brass plate on top states: The American Combined Level & Grade Finder Patented and Manufactured by Edward Helb Railroad, Pa.
