Crown Crystal Australian Carnival Glass Pin Ups Salad Bowl, Black Amethyst
Large round bowl with a scalloped rim, described as a salad bowl in original advertisements. The design features eight clusters of three pins on the inside and a band of narrow ribs on the outside. The base glass is a very dark amethyst, with beautiful bright iridescence. Factory ground base. Crown Crystal began producing carnival glass in Australia around 1919. Very hard to find piece.
Condition:  Factory grinding flake on base edge. Couple of small scratches to the finish on the outside, finish is otherwise in excellent condition. Lines seen on the inside of the bowl are typical shear or "straw" marks from manufacture, not scratches. No chips or cracks.
Marks:  Unmarked.
Dimensions:  8 1/8" at widest point, 3" high.
Color Note: Carnival glass iridescence and color will change in appearance depending on background and lighting conditions.
